Fit
A sock is a height and a fibre, not a thickness
We knit heavy terry loops across every single pair we make, so thickness is already settled. What actually matters is where the top band lands on your leg and which yarn meets the weather outside your boot.
Why thickness is the wrong question to ask
Most buyers ask for a thick pair when they want padding underfoot or warmth against the frost. Because we knit full terry cushioning throughout our range, comparing bulk will not help you choose between pairs. Every pair carries the dense loop construction built to soften steps on hard concrete floors.
The real distinction comes down to two choices that actually change how a pair behaves. Your boot collar sets the height you require, while the yarn dictates how the knit manages moisture and winter cold. That is why every card on the site prints the height and the yarn clearly.
Let the collar of your footwear set the line
Look at the leather collar of your work boot before you pick a pair. If the top edge of your boot reaches higher than the cuff of your sock, the raw leather rubs against bare skin with every step. Extra cushion inside the footbed cannot protect your calf from that friction.
A crew sock inside a tall logger boot is the most common mistake we see, and the result is always sore skin. Low-cut quarter socks finish just above a shoe collar, crew socks sit mid calf for standard work boots, and knee-high pairs run up under the knee to clear tall shafts.
Selecting the right leg among our heights
We knit 3 heights across 45 colourways to cover the shoes and boots you actually wear. Our 15 low-cut quarter listings protect your ankles in low work shoes, while our 15 cushion crew listings match standard six-inch work boots and hiking footwear through long shifts.
For pull-on boots, tall winter footwear, or unlined leather shafts, our 15 knee-high listings provide full coverage. The knee-high leg runs 16 to 16.5 inches from heel to cuff, keeping the heavy ribbed band resting securely below the joint so the sock stays put without bunching down.
Match the knit yarn to the shift ahead
Once you know the leg height you need, the yarn decides the weather. Our cotton blend incorporates polyester, nylon, and spandex for everyday durability on factory floors, breathability in warm weather, and dependable shape retention through repeated washing. It is the practical choice for indoor shifts and mild seasons.
When you head into unheated sheds, wet woods, or freezing morning conditions, choose our merino wool blend. Merino wool insulates while moving sweat away from the foot, keeping skin warm even during slow, cold outdoor work. It is worse for high heat, where our cotton blend remains lighter and cooler.
Match the top cuff to the height of your leather collar, select the yarn for your weather, and the knit will do the rest.
