How this site earns
We earn a commission when you buy through a link on this site. Here is how that works, and how we count ratings so the numbers stay honest.
How this site earns
Every buy button carries a tag that tells the shop the visit came from here. If you buy, we are paid a small share of the sale by the shop, out of their margin. The price you pay is the same either way; there is no surcharge for arriving through this catalogue.
What it does not buy
It does not buy a place in the range. We knit the socks, so what is listed here is simply what we make, all 45 colourways of it, in one place. Nothing is promoted for paying more and nothing is hidden for paying less.
Why we tell you when not to buy
The size finder will say plainly that we knit nothing at the height and size you asked for, and the journal talks you out of merino more than once. A sock returned for fit earns us nothing and costs you an afternoon, so honest sizing is the cheaper outcome for both of us.
How we count ratings
A rating on a shop belongs to a listing, and a listing here is a whole family of colourways and pack sizes. The 45 colourways in this catalogue sit in 10 listings between them, which means one star rating can appear under half a dozen different socks.
So we never add the review counts up. Doing that would report 272,240 reviews for a catalogue that actually has 20,350 behind it, counting the same people over and over. Each product page prints the number as reviews of that listing, and the picks on the front page take one sock per listing so a shortlist is never six photographs of the same thing.
